Spanish & Portuguese Studies getting a new site
We've begun conversations with the Division of Spanish & Portuguese Studies about redesigning their site in the Department Web Framework. Look for it to launch in spring 2013.
The Department Web Framework is a free service provided by the UW College of Arts & Sciences Marketing & Communications team. We design, build, and host websites for the College's departments, so they can focus on their content and communication strategies.
There are currently 33 departments using the framework service. It is available to academic departments in all four divisions: Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. If your department is interested in joining, contact Shane Fricks. What if I'm not eligible?
We've got lots of tutorials and background information in our documentation and help section.
For notices of system downtime, upgrades, new features, and workshops, join the asweb-users mailing list.
Not all units are eligible for the framework. Learn more about Arts & Sciences web services at the College's Marketing site.

The next Department Web Framework Users meeting will be Wednesday, February 13th, from 10-11:00am in CMU 065. As we discussed in the fall, we will have a short presentation on using Google Analytics and a group discussion focused around how you handle updates in a certain area (we need your vote on the topic – see below). This should also leave us some time for general updates and feedback.
The Comparative History of Ideas Program (CHID) will be moving their site into the Department Web Framework. We look forward to working with them on their new site!
We've just posted some more detailed info about the Theme Templates and Color Schemes used on Department Web Framework sites. If your department is moving into the framework this year, you might want to have a look and start exploring your options. We may add a few more color schemes if design needs demand them.
The fifth academic unit to join the Department Web Framework is the Department of Asian Languages & Literatures. Visit their shiny new site at http://asian.washington.edu.
We've begun conversations on how to transition the Department of Comparative Literature site into the Department Web Framework - look for it to launch in late December or early January.
The first meeting of the A&S Department Web Framework users will be on Wed. October 24 at 10:00am in CMU 065.
These meetings are aimed at site coordinators and content editors, and are intended to help you make better use of your websites and help us understand how we can improve the service. They will be informal and topics might include:
The Department of Scandinavian Studies website is now live at http://scandinavian.washington.edu. It has a look and feel different from the first three Department Web Framework sites thanks to the design talent of Marissa Rowell, Visual Communications Specialist for the College's Marketing and Communications team.
